Annabel and Eliot moved from the UK to Dubai in January 2000 for Eliot to take up a new challenge with his then employer. At that time Dubai was barely known and was primarily a stopover destination for flights travelling from Europe to the Far East and Australia. On arrival, the job prospects looked good and with the additional lure of sun and sand it encouraged them to commit to an initial one year. Seven years on and with no plans in the near future to move away, Annabel and Eliot have settled well into the Middle East’s premier expat society.
The relaxed and highly social lifestyle of Dubai, 365 days of sunshine, tax-free salary and enough restaurants to eat at a different one every day of the year, has kept them interested and passionate about this rapidly growing location.
Having worked for a multi-national IT company both in the UK and Dubai, Eliot has in the last 2 years switched to a medium sized private outsourcing company for telecom operators. With a solid background of almost 20 years in IT, sales and marketing as well as personal interests in technology and entrepreneurship, the proposition of Dubai Info presented an all encompassing opportunity.
Married to Eliot for 12 years, Annabel started her working life as a nurse and occupational psychologist. Following her studies at Bath University, Annabel turned her attention to corporate life and up to the point of moving to Dubai worked for a leading UK retailer in the area of merchandising and product selection. On arrival in Dubai, Annabel gravitated back to her true desire of working with horses and together with another UK female expat established an equestrian manufacturing, retail and wholesale business.
For the immediate future, both Annabel and Eliot plan to remain in their current roles and have undertaken to work on Dubai Info in their spare time. Having travelled extensively as well as having homes in both the UK and New Zealand, they relish the opportunity of extending their interest in the franchise and look to be able to run a number of businesses from any location in the world.
